La première étape de la collaboration entre NICC et Komplot a été l’organisation de l’Anderlecht Artist Weekend en septembre 2002. Ce week-end était consacré aux artistes vivant et/ou travaillant à Anderlecht et offrait une alternative au Brussels Gallery Weekend à vocation commerciale. Ensemble, les organisations créent les conditions nécessaires à l’épanouissement de la scène culturelle d’Anderlecht. Venez découvrir la prochaine édition de l’Anderlecht Artist Weekend à la Vitrine, avec des œuvres de Jolien Naeyaert et Aleksandra Chausova. Les artistes sont invitées à travailler ensemble in situ. Avec ces actions, le NICC et Komplot offrent un terrain fertile pour de nouvelles collaborations et des rencontres inspirantes.
* Jolien Naeyaert (°1989) est une ingénieur architecte et une artiste visuel qui recherche des moyens alternatifs d’explorer et de représenter les lieux architecturaux. En se concentrant sur différents médias, elle cherche des moyens d’aborder les lieux de manière active. L’acte d’expérience, le fait d’être réellement à un endroit particulier et de découvrir ce qui vit à cet endroit spécifique – par la présence de tout son corps – est essentiel pour son travail. En 2015, elle a construit son propre ” centre de recherche ” dans une caravane et a décidé de se promener en Belgique, en questionnant la notion de ” paysage “. Aujourd’hui, cette pratique a évolué vers un modèle de dialogue, d’intimité et de travail basé sur le processus. De décembre 2015 à mai 2022, Jolien Naeyaert a travaillé chez Robbrecht en Daem architecten à Gand. En 2018, elle a commencé à écrire des articles pour le magazine d’architecture belge A+, et en 2020, elle a commencé à enseigner à la faculté d’architecture, Sint Lucas Bruxelles. Avec la cinéaste/architecte française Anne Philippe, elle a fondé le collectif ‘desespiegles’. Récemment, elle a fait une résidence à The Green Corridor à Saint-Gilles où elle a décidé de commencer à faire des dessins à la main. Elle a également dansé, improvisé au piano et écrit des poèmes. Résolue à se concentrer sur la connaissance corporelle, elle poursuit cette pratique jusqu’à aujourd’hui. Jolien fait également partie du groupe de musique bruxellois DÜNKE WELL et a rejoint l’année dernière Nadine, un laboratoire d’art contemporain. Actuellement, elle vit à Anderlecht et a un studio au Level Five Brussels.
* Le travail de Aleksandra Chaushova (°1985) trouve souvent son point de départ dans des archives et des documents : des représentations médiatiques dans les journaux, des archives architecturales, des entretiens qu’elle réalise elle-même ou, plus récemment, des brevets d’invention. Elle privilégie le dessin comme moyen d’expression pour sa propension à subvertir les conventions qui déterminent un document en tant que tel, y effectuant une sorte de parasitage où des vrais documents s’entremêlent avec ses propres dessins. Ses œuvres récentes mettent en question des thèmes de pouvoir, de production et d’économie. Son travail a été exposé à : La Centrale, Bruxelles (2021, BXL Universel II), Musée M, Louvain (2021, The Constant Glitch et 2019, Burotica – exposition personnelle), Maison d’art actuel des Chartreux (2019, The Perfect Kiss – exposition personnelle), Neues Museum Nurnberg (2015), Wiels (2013, ReSiDuE) parmi d’autres. Aleksandra Chaushova vit à Bruxelles et a un studio à Anderlecht.

The first step in the collaboration between NICC and Komplot was the organization of Anderlecht Artist Weekend in September ’22. This weekend focused on artists living and/or working in Anderlecht and offered an alternative to the commercially oriented Brussels Gallery Weekend. Together the organizations create conditions for the cultural scene in Anderlecht to flourish. Come and see the next edition of Anderlecht Artist Weekend at the Vitrine, with works by Jolien Naeyaert and Aleksandra Chaushova who are invited to collaborate in situ. With these actions, NICC and Komplot provide a fertile ground for new collaborations and inspiring encounters.
* Jolien Naeyaert (°1989) is an architectural engineer and visual artist who explores alternative ways of researching and representing architectural places. By focussing on different media, she seeks for ways to actively approach places. The act of experiencing being truly in a specific place and discovering what lives in that particular place – through the presence of the whole body – is essential to her work. In 2015, she built her own ‘research centre’ in a caravan and decided to wander around Belgium, questioning the notion of ‘landscape’. Today, this practice has evolved into a pattern of dialog, intimacy and process-based work. From December 2015 until May 2022, Jolien Naeyaert worked at Robbrecht en Daem architecten in Ghent. In 2018, she started writing articles for the Belgian architecture magazine A+, and in 2020 she began teaching at the Faculty of Architecture, Sint Lucas Brussels. Together with French cineast/ architect Anne Philippe, she founded the collective ‘desespiegles’. Recently she participated in a residency at The Green Corridor in St. Gilles where she decided to make drawings by hand. She also danced, improvised on her piano and wrote poetry. Resolute to focus on embodied knowledge, she continues this practice to this day. Jolien is also a member of the Brussels music group DÜNKE WELL and last year she joined Nadine, a laboratory for contemporary arts. Currently, she lives in Anderlecht and has a studio at Level Five Brussels.
* Aleksandra Chaushova’s (°1985) work often finds its starting point in archives or documents: media representations in journals, architecture archives, interviews realized by herself or, more recently, patents. She uses drawing as a means to put into question the conventions which determine a document as such, sometimes acting as a drawing parasite affecting archives. Her recent works deal with the subjects of power, production and economy. Her work has been exposed at La CENTRALE (2021, BXL Universel II), Museum M, Leuven (2021, The Constant Glitch and 2019, Burotica – solo exhibition), Maison d’art actuel des Chartreux (2019, The Perfect Kiss – solo), Neues Museum Nurnberg (2015), Wiels (2013, ReSiDuE) among others. Aleksandra Chaushova lives in Brussels and has a studio in Anderlecht.

De eerste stap in de samenwerking tussen NICC en Komplot was het organiseren van Anderlecht Artist Weekend in september ’22. Dit weekend stond in het teken van de kunstenaar die in Anderlecht woont en/of werkt en bood een alternatief voor het commercieel gedreven Brussels Gallery Weekend. De organisaties zoeken samen naar voorwaarden om de culturele scène van Anderlecht te laten opbloeien. Kom kijken naar de volgende editie van Anderlecht Artist Weekend in de Vitrine, met werk van Jolien Naeyaert en Aleksandra Chaushova. De kunstenaars worden uitgenodigd om samen in situ aan de slag te gaan. Met deze acties voorzien NICC en Komplot een vruchtbare voedingsbodem creëren voor nieuwe samenwerkingen en inspirerende ontmoetingen.
* Jolien Naeyaert (°1989) is ingenieur architect en beeldend kunstenaar. Binnen haar praktijk gaat ze vastberaden op zoek naar alternatieve manieren om architecturale ruimtes te bestuderen en te representeren. Aan de hand van verschillende media, onderzoekt ze nieuwe methodieken om zichzelf te oriënteren in tijd en ruimte. Belevingen opdoen en werkelijk aanwezig zijn op een specifieke plek en ontdekken – via de aanwezigheid van je gehele lichaam – wat er leeft op die plek, is essentieel binnen haar werk. In 2015 creëerde ze haar eigen ‘onderzoekscentrum’ in een caravan en besloot ze in en rond België te dwalen. Zonder internet, kaartmateriaal en elektriciteit, gaat ze op pad zonder bestemming. Hoewel ‘landschap’ centraal stond tijdens het begin van haar praktijk, evolueert dit vandaag meer naar een praktijk van uitwisseling, intimiteit en procesmatig werken. Van eind 2015 tot midden 2022 was ze aan het werk bij Robbrecht en Daem architecten. Sedert september 2018 schrijft ze regelmatig voor Belgisch architectuurtijdschrift A+ en sinds 2020 geeft ze les aan de Faculteit Architectuur Sint Lucas Brussel. Samen met Franse architect en cinéast Anne Philippe richtte ze het collectief ‘desespiegles’ op. Recent deed ze een residentie bij The Green Corridor in Sint Gillis waar ze besloot om tekeningen met de hand te beginnen maken. Ze heeft er ook gedanst, geïmproviseerd op haar piano en poëzie geschreven. Vastberaden om te focussen op lichamelijke kennisvormen, zet ze deze praktijk verder vandaag. Jolien maakt ook deel uit van de Brusselse band DÜNKE WELL en vorig jaar sloot ze aan bij Nadine, laboratorium voor actuele transdisciplinaire kunst. Momenteel woont Jolien in Anderlecht en heeft ze een een studio bij Level Five Brussels.
* Aleksandra Chaushova’s (°1985) werk vertrekt vaak vanuit archieven of documenten: media voorstellingen uit tijdschriften, architectuur-archieven, interviews door de kunstenaar zelf, maar meer recent focust ze ook op octrooien. Ze gebruikt het tekenen als middel om de conventies die een document als zodanig bepalen in vraag te stellen, waarbij ze soms optreedt als een teken-parasiet die archieven aantast. Haar recent werk gaan over macht, productie en economie. Haar werk was onder andere te zien in La CENTRALE (2021, BXL Universel II), Museum M, Leuven (2021, The Constant Glitch en 2019, Burotica – solo tentoonstelling), Maison d’art actuel des Chartreux (2019, The Perfect Kiss – solo), Neues Museum Nurnberg (2015), Wiels (2013, ReSiDuE). Aleksandra Chaushova woont in Brussel en heeft een atelier in Anderlecht.
